Batik is a hand painting technique applied to faric, silk, cotton. During past two or three centuries, „batik“ has become a main means to express spiritual and cultural values of Southeast Asia and one of the most subtle ways of representing the culture of this region. Batik technique is protected by UNESCO as Indonesian cultural legacy.
Tamara has dedicated special scarves for this occasion, which cannot be found as part of her regular offer.
Tamara Vasiljević
Born in Novi Sad in 1977, where she finished High school for design "Bogdan Šuput“, section fabric design. Graduated from the "Accademia Italiana“ in Florence, department for fabric design. Specialized in the ArtWorkshop studio "Fuji“ in Florence for batik and screen printing on fabric. Member of UPIDIV since 2003. Presented her work on 15 solo and several collective exhibitions in Serbia ad abroad. Participated in several art colonies, some of which are "Iwano project“, tapestry colony "Boško Petrović“ of the Atelier 61 and colony of MSUV. Published her patchwork cover in "Patchwork Quilt Tsushin“ Tokio, Japan.
Actively works on creating textile in the interior, furniture restoration, creating armchairs and stools, as well as painting silk scarves. Likes to experiment with textile and is involved in creative work with children.
